About Cheryl

Cheryl L Price is a mosaic artist who resides in California’s central valley.  She sells her mosaics in art shows, galleries, and out of her home studio.

 

She continually researches the “nuts and bolts'' of mosaic making and studies in fine art. However, the investigations into the subjects of her mosaics are what really propels her fragmented creations.

Typically, Cheryl thoughtfully chooses her subjects and plans the overall composition, meticulously drawing in the contour lines of the mosaic. She carefully selects the tesserae, mindful of the colors and values. Other times, although beginning with a general idea, the mosaic takes on a life of its own as she adapts to the beautiful tones in the tesserae. With all scenarios she painstakingly attaches each piece onto the substrate of choice.

From the initial idea to the sealing of the grout, the creation of each mosaic is a labor of love. Art is Cheryl's tangible expression of gratitude. The rich textures and hues of the outdoors and the joyful depictions of children and caring adults, are moments she captures in her work.

 

She spends time exploring local rivers and lakes of the Sierra Nevadas, the California coastline, and has a passion for wildlife. The deer she observes from her deck, the river otter she encounters while kayaking, or the great blue heron she studies from the shoreline are images she recreates.
